You can now build an affordable Res-O-Glas Guitar that surpasses the original from the 1960s in tone, look and feel...for a fraction of the cost of an original. Each Res-O-Glas Guitar body is designed and hand-built in the United States, using premium components like our select, hard-maple center blocks and hand-finished fiberglass tops and backs. We are the proud owner of the Res-O-Glas trademark, and the only manufacturer making these fiberglass guitar bodies today.
The second photo shows a second customer black Res-O-Glas guitar build that utilized one of our kits (additional parts required) the third photo shows the unassembled body as it is shipped with the instruction manual (your body will be black - not red). The final photo shows the detail of the craftsmanship in our internal wood blocks. Each block proudly carries our Res-O-Glas logo.
Our bodies featured in this auction accept 2-3/16" wide necks with square "Tele" type neck heels. Some necks that fit this type of neck pocket are: Eastwood, Fender Telecaster, Danelectro and Epiphone. This body can be configured to accept many different pickups and parts commonly available today. The electronics are surface mounted – just like the originals. We recommend humbuckers or p-90s to complete your build. The two-part Res-O-Glas body is ideal for modifications. Unlike any other guitar, you can easily access the underside of your guitar by simply removing the five screws that join the body together and pulling the two body halves apart. You can swap and rewire pickups with ease.
The Res-O-Glas Guitar body is shipped unassembled and should be treated as a guitar building project that will require time to assemble and the additional purchase of several key parts (that we do not sell) to complete. A detailed 17-page instructional manual with photos is included with each Res-O-Glas Guitar body. The manual covers the design and assembly of the Res-O-Glas body, but does not include any wiring diagrams. Considering the build level for this project (lower intermediate), it is assumed that the builder already has basic wiring skills and can properly set-up a guitar.
Recreate a favorite model from the past or design your own one-of-a-kind axe using your favorite parts. Our bodies and modular components allow for countless designs and configurations, and we’ve eliminated the lame parts of guitar building – routing, sanding and painting. Our limited production runs help ensure that you won’t see another Res-O-Glas soon, and it will only appreciate in value as time goes on.
Having used an original specimen to make our Res-O-Glas molds, our semi-hollow, fiberglass bodies are built according to vintage Valco specs from the 1960s. However, we didn't just make a carbon copy. We improved several parts from the original design, strengthening the guitar and improving its playability in the process.
