Customer Builds & Feedback

Here is a picture of my build.  It has an Eastwood Airline neck, pickups came out of a Gibson Explorer and has a Gibson Bigsby from the 70's. Used a paper and foil tone cap and this thing screams. I'll be giging with it this weekend.

Thanks!

Doug

April from Illinois sent us this great photo.  She says,

"I thought I'd send you a picture of my seafoam green Jetson guitar.  It's got an old Teisco neck, GFS Retrotron Neck PU, Eastwood Airline VVSC Bridge PU and I taped off the pickguard so you see the seafoam color underneath. Now onto my next res-o build! Thanks for bringing these puppies back!!!

No, thank you April for sharing this information with us! We can't wait to see your next build.

Jeff brought this Vintage White Res-O-Glas Belmont Guitar that he built to our attention. Using some GFS p-90s, Danelectro Baritone neck and GuitarKitsUSA slanted tailpiece he put this together.  Jeff said: "I've built many guitars, but this one was the most fun. The instructions were great and not having to worry about painting / finishing makes for a short completion time. Best of all, it plays great and has a soound different  from anything else I own. Thanks Guitar Kits USA!"

Ben McCombs built the above  one-of-a- kind “Res-O-Surf” guitar. Ben was kind enough to post several of his pictures during his build process at the following blog:

http://www.tdpri.com/forum/other-guitars-other-instruments/283718-diy-resoglass-guitar.html

Ben had this to say about his build, “I finished building my red Jetsons model. I love it! What I really like about this is first of all it looks fantastic. But also, it's very easy to put the pickups at whatever exact position you want. I was able to test out a variety of positions for the pickups before mounting and settled on having the neck pickup exactly 4" away from the bridge - I liked the sound of that position best. You can't do that with most kits - you have to either live with a default position, or do a lot of work and cut your own custom pickguard and rout the body... this was easy. And it sounds great.”

Sid in California took the photo to the left of his black Re-O-Glas. He used an Eastwood Airline neck, GFS Humbuckers and a Bigsby tremelo with his build. He states: “I will say right now that your product is amazing. This is now my favorite guitar!”

We hate to pick favorites...but Clint Jackson's trio off Res-O-Glas Guitars holds a special place in our hearts. He states, Like I have said before, This is a absolute "TONE MONSTER". It has unbelievable sound. Any one who has heard it, or has gotten lucky enough to play it. Is "BLOWN AWAY" by not just the great tone and overall sound but the way it plays and the great look. Just like the other two Res-O's that I have gotten from you. I am fixing to build my forth Res-O. This build will be something totally different from anything so far I can wait to get it finished and let the world see yet another Fabulous Res-O-Glas.  I am "TOTTALY ADDICTED"! These guitars are what I have been searching for  over 15 years....... Thanks to all you guys at Res-O-Glas for bring the world truly a great product.

Proud to send you my Res-O-Glass finished at last!  Thanks for everything! Lots of enjoy.  As you can see, I mounted a GK3 Roland midi adaptor. Maybe I'll order once again this year.

Bests Regards,
Samuel Tasinaje

Troy from the Washington D.C. area built this fine seafoam green Res-O-Glas Guitar with help from his father Ted. They made the Res-O-Glas Guitar using a neck from a Gretsch Jet Club, Guitar Kits USA tailpiece and a pair of Seymour Duncans wired to the "Jimmy Page" configuration using push/pull pots. This was Troy's first build and he had a great time designing and building his own guitar. Upon completion Troy said, "the tone is exceptionally thick, even when both pickups are tapped. Easily the finest guitar I own."

Chris built the single P-90 Res-O-Glas he is shown playing here. It has an Eastwood neck and our pickguard and tailpiece. Chris  was the winner of our first Res-O-Glas giveaway contest and he choose a black Belmont WLT for his prize. We look forward to seeing his next build! Check out his band the Memory Motel at: memorymotel.bandcamp.com he has used this Res-O-Glas Guitar on many of their recordings.

Our customer Robert Watts built the following guitar utilizing a Eastwood neck and pickups, vintage Kay tailpiece and Teisco bridge. He said the following about his build, "I had great success...and I'm having such a blast playing my Res-o-glass guitar, that I have not put it down for 3 months now, literally. I take it to work everyday and play when ever I have time, Most of the parts on the guitar were used stuff I already had or got off Ebay. I love being able to crack open the body any time I want to tweek the electronics. I've alredy changed out the tone capicitors a few times. Sounds great, looks great and I've inspired a buddy of mine to build one".

Dave is a returning customer who sent us this photo. He explains, "I decided that I initially wanted it to be the antithesis of a Supro (no Knobs). I was going to have one pickup no volume or anything just a blank top and had the idea to call it One. After I had it set up I decided to add a second pickup (for functionality), a switch and one vol still keeping it as sparse and as close to the original idea as I could."   Dave we understand...we love simple. Well done!

Andrew sent us this photo of his recently completed seafoam green Res-O-Glas Belmont with our slanted tailpiece. This is his second Res-O-Glas project. It has a pair of Duncan Phat Cat pickups, and a Warmoth Vintage Modern neck. He did the pinstriping work himself on the pickguard. Andrew says, "classic looks with updated playability - this guitar has it all. It's 6 lbs 9.5 ozs of useful tones for just about any gig."

We love knobs - and this guitar has plenty of them - and they are located in unique places. Ryan Tucker of California sent us the above photo of his Jetsons Res-O-Glas "R" body in vintage white with white binding, Aztec Tailpiece and three humbucker pickups. This was Ryan's first guitar build and he enlisted a vintage Kay neck for his build. Ryan says, "Thanks a ton for giving me the opportunity to actually own a Res-O-Glas guitar without paying the nightmarish prices that these body styles are commanding on the open market."

Our Res-O-Glas customer Kevin had this to say about his build shown at left..."I'll Definitely be back for more in the future. This thing is ridiculously fun!"

"I went for a Dual Tone look and set up, and I am very happy with it! Everything went very well and the instructions were very good. It plays great and sounds great. The first kid I ever played guitars with had a Supro and I never got it out of my head. I hope there will be more styles offered. Good Luck with your company." - Stephen

Our customer Anestis from Greece sent us the following photo of the Res-O-burst that he cretaed using a Moses Graphite neck, Steinberger tuners and SD pickups. He says, "Thanks for the pleasure guys!" and has posted some photos documenting his build at: www.customshop.gr/fiber.html

Andrew has bought two of our kits and has just completed his first build. This is a WLT Res-O-Glas body with a Warmoth neck. He copied the Supro headstock shape from vintage examples he found on the net. One of our favorite aspects of his build is the custom design he utilized on one of our pickguards - using red pinstriping instead of black. Andrew says: "I love your brilliant product - please keep up the good work - thanks!"

Alex from Austria sent us the accompanying photo and says, "Thank you for your great product !!! The bodies arrived august 3rd, on the 7th. I screwed it together for the first time and played a birthday party gig in the evening from 10o´clock in the evening till 6 in the morning...the guitar sounds amazing !!!"

Mark from Illinois sends us this photo of his unique build. Mark is an advanced builder and created what is probably the world's only Dobro Res-O-Glas in existence using a Jetson / J.B. Hutto body shape.  He split two kits to get the two-tone body color. We are anxious to see his next build!

"I totally fell in love with [this] guitar. I could spend hours playing or just looking at her....The handling and the specific res-o-glas sound of the guitar. I was hunting for an adequate vintage guitar about a half year, without finding a guitar with that kind of a broad spectrum of sounds, from Gretschy twang, vintage chime to bluesy muddiness combined with high output, my build has got. I'm so glad that I purchased that product instead of spending another half year for searching after a real vintage guitar - this appeared to be the right decision, although i was quite scared when i opened the package for the 1st time. I never dealt with any aspects of guitar-building and never looked inside an electric guitar. But with the help of your detailed instruction and the experience of my fellow builder Alex, who built a fantastic sounding Supro-Style model, this project was quite achiveable and I learned a lot bout guitars and guitar electronics. Dan, thanks a lot for your product and the really great support, you and all the guys at Guitar Kits USA provide. That for sure won't be my last build!"  - Max, Austria

Paul Built this Jack White / J.B. Hutto Clone using a Res-O-Glas body, tailpiece and pickup rings in conjunction with an Eastwood guitar neck. Nice work Paul!

One of our customers from the U.K. built the  beauty at left. Sixteen year-old musician "Blues Beaten Redshaw" completed this example using a Res-O-Glas fiberglass body, tailpiece and modified pickguard.  He combine our new parts with a 60's harmony pickup, the neck from a 60's Kay, the bridge is from a 60's Top Twenty guitar and the knobs are re-makes of the original Airline model. Not only is this guy a talented musician and builder, but it looks like he could be a photographer too!  Thanks for sharing your build with us!  Visit his site: bluesbeatenredshaw.com

"I am amazed with the quality and finish of your products and I would like to again thank you for the opportunity for me to build my own custom Res-O-Glas Airline" says Redshaw.

Giancarlo from Italy sent attached photo and following comments:

"This is my "R-Fancyglas" guitar. The sound is great like the other my vintage Supro res-o-glas, but different. It has more character and versatility. I have built all wood parts using zebrawood ( neck, taipiece , the base of bridge.  Fingerboard and logo on the headstock are ebony wood. I used plastic pearloid material to cover the headstock and taipiece, and to make the pickguard. I used Figured white pearl for inlays. The guitar has a traditional wiring for the vintage supro. It has 2 Seymour Duncan pickups : SP 90-2 (bridge and neck) with 2 indipendent volume control, 2 tone and 1 master volume control. It has another control knob for a passive overdrive. I build guitars and I can tell that this guitar is the best that I have made. The particular sound is given by the body. It has big fat sound, but you can customize your sound if you use different combinations of pickup, different kind of wood, scale lenght, etc. So you'll have your sound!
Thank you Dan! This guitar body is the tool for my art!!!"

Ralph from Chicago sent us the attached photo. He used a GuitarFetish Surf90 pickup and estimated that his total build cost was about $430. Here's what he had to say...

Thanks guys for such a great product. This guitar's tone can't be described in words, but its the tone of what a guitar should sound like. - P.S. The finished product is so beautiful and smooth my girlfriend cried once she saw it completed and her name was on the headstock.

Garrett in Portland built this white beauty. He completed his build using various vintage Custom Kraft guitar parts. We thik it looks great - and like your ace of spades customization.

This guitar resides in Greece. We think it's a playable piece of art complete with vintage gold foil pickups.

Kevin in California sent us this photo of a two pickup Res-O-Glas customized with just one tone and one volume control. He included the following comments: "The build is now complete and I can't believe the tone I'm getting out of it.... it sounds awesome!  I'm using the Eastwood neck, Eastwood singlecoil pickups, and the Airline/Supro/National rosewood bridge replica you recommend.  Attached is a picture. Thanks a lot for all of your help!"

Guy from the U.K. put the above beauty together.  He said he always wanted a guitar that had no knobs and had to be controlled via pedals - this is what he came up with.  We love it!

One of our favorite customers Clint Jackson sent us the photo at left. He has purchased three bodies from us over the last year (a red, a black and one of our ltd. edition orange bodies) This build combines a vintage Supro neck with our body, tailpiece and pickguard. We hope to get more photos of his other builds as they are completed! We'll let him describe this guitar in his own words...

"Here is a pic of the first of three res-o-glas, that I have bought....... I got to say this guitar is FREAKIN SWEET....... I bought an Eastwood Coranado and used the neck and pickups from it. This, is truely a TONE MONSTER, I have been playing for over 15 years and during that time I have had a bad guitar fetish, and have owned every thing under the sun from Vintage to New, Gibson, Fender, etc, etc, etc. I was always unsatified, Then I came along your kits, and I must say "I truly love this guitarr" It is everything I wanted in a guitar!"

Clint's second Res-O-Glas project was completely different from his first. Working with a 2009 limited edition orange body with black binding, he built the guitar at left. To complete his build, Clint used an Eastwood Airline neck with Sperzel lock tuners, a single Lindly Fralin P-90 and 1 vintage Chicken Head knob.

"I must say once again I am totally in love with guitar! This single pickup guitar is a freakin TONE MONSTER. It plays like a dream, I cant get enough of it. I have to split up my playing time between this one and the black double humbucker Res-O-Glas, I got from you guys. I play booth of my Res-o-Glas guitars, thru a vintage Marshall JTM Plexi. I gotta say this guitar, thru that amp is damn near as, good as it gets! IT"S FREAKIN SWEET!!!"

Jeff Stoddard built the above beauty using a combination of Res-O-Glas, Vintage Airline and Eastwood Parts.  Jeff said the following about his build:

"It really did take all the tedious parts out of guitar building...Thanks for making a great kit! Please continue to make more of these fantastic Res-o-glas kits."

Grant in Maryland completed the black Res-O-Glas WL above. He estimate that it cost about $385 to build using a reissue Danelectro neck and GFS pickups. Upon its completion he stated: "It sounds great. Different than a wood guitar, more resonant or something. Bluesy, swamp rocky, garage rocky."

"I finally finished my Res-O-Glas guitar and man have I been enjoying it! Building the guitar has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done and I hope to build another one real soon. After getting the guitar finished I was so happy with it I took it into the studio with me and recorded lead tracks with it for my bands upcoming album. Thank you so much for bringing Res-O-Glas back and I can't wait to see what you come up with in the future."

"Now, I built the guitar mainly using your parts and original Valco parts but I also used an Eastwood tone switch cover and a GFS PAF replica for the neck pickup. Hands down this guitar is my new favorite and I can't wait to put some miles on it on the road."

-Jared Claxon

Our customer Ethan built the following ultra rare blue guitar and said the following:  "I couldn't be more happy about the whole process. i plan on getting the new body shape [next] that accepts a Strat style neck - because I have one sitting around."

The Baritone Res-O-Glas at left  gets low and gritty.  Built with GFS P-90s and a Danelectro Baritone neck, Rob of Los Angeles uses this Axe with his band the Dylan Trees.

Dave sends us photos of his build above. He says, "The neck is “some sort of old National head shaped thing. Pickups are Lollar the bridge was from Stew Mac and the knock-off Bigsby came from ebay."  We love that you are recycling parts - looks great!

CJ built this above beauty using a combination of Res-O-Glas and Eastwood parts. CJ is a teenager and this was his first build.  We were proud to be a part of it!

"Thanks for all of your help and a cool product GuitarKitsUSA!" CJ said.

Kris built the Res-O-Glas Guitars using our bodies necks that he made himself.  Going for the dead-on Jack White look, Kris drilled holes for the volume and tone pots but did not install them - similar to Jack's favorite guitar.

"I'm really pleased with the results - not only is it a beauty but it plays like a dream. I can't recommend your company highly enough - from the quality of your products (everything is topnotch) to your personalized and very fast customer service. I work in the recording industry and am taking every opportunity to recommend your products to colleagues and clients. Thanks again for a great buying experience."

-James, California

This guitar was spotted on the web and built with several unique items including a white Epiphone Neck, Eastwood pickups, a kill switch and wired with the flexibility of series or parallel wiring. He states: "When put in series, this guitar really rocks!" The above beauty was built by a customer of ours in the San Francisco Bay area.
